How women really feel about ambition.
In the article above there is a group of women from different ages and walks in life. Every women was working and career oriented. One spoke of being a stay at home mom at one point but then became a working single mother. What bothers me about this whole article is the idea that women only consider being in a career as being ambitious. You can be considered ambitious as full-time mom! The number one priority of a mother is to raise successful children and if you decide to devote your life to being the best stay-at-home mom ever, your ambitious. Deciding not to take a risky career path because you want to focus on motherhood does not make you less ambitious. It bothers me that society has given women this idea that in order to be considered ambitious you must sacrifice parenting. No, you do not need to sacrifice parenting to be ambitious. Obviously there are sacrifices you must make as a parent, sleep and long showers are the first two that come to mind but, I mean, it shouldn't even be considered as less ambitious.
I have to make it clear, both parents should be child rearing regardless, if they are together or not. Some women need to stop using their children as pawns for there own gains. Some fathers need to make it more of a priority to be in their children's lives. If both parents are fully involved in their children's life, then both parents can actually have time to sit down and work towards their own ambitions, whether that means going to work, to move up as CEO or using google to find awesome articles about teaching your toddler.
Women follow your heart and be ambitious in all your endeavors, regardless what life throws at you. Your life is a blank canvas and you are the artist. Paint your heart out!!
